“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Background
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certification of Emotionally Focused Therapy(EFT) for couples and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change and growth in all individuals. I offer hope that healing is possible and living a full life in the present is attainable.
A Holistic Approach:
In our initial sessions, I take the time to get to know my clients, their background, and their specific concerns. I believe that a holistic understanding of an individual’s life, experiences, and personality is vital to effective therapy. This allows me to tailor my approach to their unique needs.I specialize in working with teens and adults who might be struggling with transitions in their lives. This may mean developmental changes, changes in the marital relationship or teens transitioning into adulthood.
Committing to therapy isn’t always easy and at times can be painful, but gaining insights into old patterns and learn new, healthier approaches to problems and relationships will be the catalyst for change in all areas of your life. I work to build on your unique strengths in order for you to create your best life. Taking the initial step to walk through the doors for counseling from a professional, is a courageous act in order to gain self-awareness and acceptance of all aspects of who you are.
I use a range of modalities that I have been trained in including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, and Trauma Recovery. I am also Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed. I typically utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) when I work with people experiencing severe emotional dysregulation, “highs and lows” or not having a sense of control at times. This treatment modality focuses on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance in order to cope with difficult situations. I am also trained in AEDP(Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) which I offer as an experiential process that engages the right and left sides of the brain in order to heal.
I take an integrative approach when working with a client, and my therapy style is to treat the whole person working away from “pathologizing” the person, instead see the complexities of each individual and begin to accept all parts of who you are. At times this will mean being able to see and validate painful or hurt parts of who you are and to learn how to integrate these parts into your whole self so you can begin to live more fully in the present.
Couples
My approach when working with couples is to utilize an Emotionally Focused (EFT) Framework which I have a certification. Dr. Sue Johnson, creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy, addresses issues of patterns in relationships that cause conflict and distress. This modality works with understanding adult attachment and bonding and how to de-escalate couples as well as shape new emotional responses. I will also pull from Structural Therapy, please see the couples counseling page for more information.
Co-parenting in a healthy way
I work with families who are intact, separating, or divorced parents. I work to understand each family’s unique situation and their familial patterns and offer a balanced approach so that each family member feels understood and heard.
Reflection and validation are key interventions I use. I encourage clients to approach counseling with the intent to gain an understanding of how to provide a stable and consistent environment for your child(ren) while working with your former partner. By doing this, you will foster a positive sense of self-worth for your child. I work with both parents on these skills so they have success as co-parents and your child reaps the benefits!
